Independent technical advisor for founders & business owners

Borrow a CTO's judgment for the decisions you can't afford to get wrong.

Everyone else advising you is selling something: the agency wants the contract, the vendor wants the deal, your devs want the rewrite. Azky Consulting is the one advisor on your side of the table, with no stake in the answer.

Sound familiar?

Symptom 01

A vendor quoted you six figures. Sign, negotiate, or build it yourself? Right now the only technical opinion you have is the seller's.

Symptom 02

Everything takes a month. Features your team estimated at a week quietly become six, and nobody can tell you where the time goes.

Symptom 03

AI changed the game, your team didn't. Other teams ship twice as fast with AI tooling. Yours is still working like it's 2021.

These are not developer problems. They are technical leadership problems, and hiring an expensive full-time CTO to solve them is overkill for a small team.

03

You're hiring judgment, not hours.

I'm Thibault Denizet. I've spent 13 years building software: as a consultant for US companies, as Director of Engineering at OmiseGO, where I built the engineering team, as the author of Master Ruby Web APIs and Modular Rails, and as the founder of my own products. I currently run a six-figure consulting practice through Azky Consulting.

I've seen what happens inside dozens of codebases and teams: the agency that overbills, the MVP built on sand, the good team slowed down by bad process. That pattern recognition is what you're buying. Every engagement is delivered by me personally, not handed to a junior.

A good fit, or not

This is for you if
  • You're a non-technical founder funding development you can't independently evaluate
  • You run a SaaS with 1 to 15 people and revenue, but no senior technical leadership
  • You run an established business making a major software or AI purchase, with nobody technical on your side of the deal
  • You're about to make an expensive decision: a vendor's offer, build vs buy, rebuild, first tech hires, agency contract
  • You suspect AI could make your team faster but don't know where to start
  • You're being pitched AI solutions and can't tell substance from hype
  • You're an investor who needs technical due diligence on a deal
This is not for you if
  • You need a development team to build your product (I advise, I don't staff)
  • You want a co-founder to work for equity
  • You're looking for the cheapest possible opinion
  • You want someone in your office or in daily standups

Questions founders actually ask

Why should I trust an audit from someone who might want the retainer?

Fair question. The audit stands alone: most clients take the report and execute with their own team, and that's a success. The report tells you what's true, whether or not we ever work together again. My reputation is worth more than a retainer sold on fear.

What stacks do you cover?

Deepest in Ruby on Rails and JavaScript/TypeScript, fluent across modern web stacks, cloud infrastructure, and AI-assisted development workflows. If your stack is unusual, ask first: if I'm not the right person, I'll say so before you pay.

Will you talk to my developers or agency directly?

Yes, with your go-ahead. Audits usually include a session with whoever writes the code. Developers tend to be relieved: a good audit gives them the ammunition to fix things they've been flagging for months.

Can we meet in person?

Yes, easy in Phuket, but anywhere in Thailand can be done. Further afield, I'll come to you when the engagement justifies the trip: travel costs covered and a three-month retainer minimum. The rest of the time everything happens in writing, with calls in US morning or EU afternoon windows.

Why not just hire a full-time CTO for that money?

A company of 5 to 15 people doesn't have full-time CTO work. It has a few genuinely hard decisions a month, and you can't hire a fifth of a CTO. If you're about to commit a six-figure budget to a build, an audit costs a small fraction of that decision: price it against the size of the mistake, not against a salary. And when you grow to where a full-time CTO genuinely makes sense, I'll tell you, and help you hire them.

Can you tell us where AI actually fits in our business?

Yes, and that usually means talking you out of half of it. I use AI-assisted development daily and teach it to teams, so I know what it genuinely does and what's demo theater. You get a sober map of where AI pays off in your product and process, and an honest read on any AI vendor or agency pitching you. No hype, no slideware.

Can you just build it for us instead?

No. Azky Consulting is deliberately advisory only, which is exactly what makes the advice trustworthy: I have no incentive to recommend more development work. If you need a build, I'll point you at shops I'd trust with my own product, and I take no commission for it. That's the same reason you can believe the rest of the advice.

One advisor on your side of the table.

Someone technical, telling you what you don't know.

That's the whole service. Start with a free 15-minute call, or tell me the decision you're facing below and I'll send back a straight answer. No charge, no pitch, either way.
